Propecia for the Prevention of Hair Loss

Propecia is the only hair loss prevention medication approved by the Food and Drug Administration. A pill you take once a day, Propecia helps reduce DHT, which is one of the main causes of male pattern hair loss.

Propecia was created to treat moderate or mild hair loss in the area of the front of the head and top of the head.  It is only recommended for men.
Men who have allergies to finasteride should not use Propecia.  Once Propecia is being used, you must continue using it to continue to have its benefits.  If you stop taking Propecia, you may lose the hair you have gained within 12 months of discontinuing treatment.
